Danville, Vermont



Danville was granted by the Vermont legislature in 1786 and was named for the royal cartographer of France, Jean Baptiste Bourguignon d'Anville. It is located in Caledonia County.

Danville has the distinction of being one of Vermont's highest towns (sea level-wise). It shares Joe's Pond with neighbor Cabot.

The American Society of Dowsers meet in Danville every August. Danville is also the birthplace of Thaddeus Stevens, leader of the Civil War-era abolitionist Radical Republicans.
